Decision-making documents regarding Majestic House (122-126 Manchester Street)

Majestic House is owned by the Crown and is located on land designated for the East Frame anchor project. The documents below informed and/or recorded the decision on 12 March 2014 that Majestic House will be demolished under section 38 of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011. Some names have been redacted from these documents for privacy reasons.

A further document held by CERA which is relevant to Majestic House is the structural assessment and strengthening report produced for the former building owner in December 2011.  Names have been redacted from this document for privacy reasons.

Christchurch Central City Commercial Property Market Study - May 2012

The Ernst & Young “CERA Christchurch Central City Commercial Property Market Study” report represented demand for commercial property in the CBD at a moment in time, before the existence of the CCDU and Christchurch Central Recovery Plan were known to the respondents. Data was collected up to 9 February 2012. While all care was taken to ensure accuracy, the results have been overtaken by events and may no longer be a fair representation of demand for commercial property in the CBD. There are encouraging signs of significantly stronger demand for commercial property in the CBD
